water and repeat the process. Rinse out the kettle 2 or 3
times. The kettle is now ready for use.

Kettle
Cordless
Kettle
1. Unplug the kettle from the outlet before filling, or for
cordless models, remove from power base before filling.
2. Fill the kettle with the required amount of water. Ensure that
the water level is between MIN and MAX on the water level
indicator. If using the mesh filter, it must be in place.
WARNING: If the kettle is overfilled there is a risk that
boiling water may spit out of the spout.
3. Make sure that the lid is in place and the kettle or power
base (cordless models only) is standing on a level surface.
If lid is not in place, auto shut-off will not operate.
4. Plug into the outlet and turn on (l).
5. The kettle will switch off (O) automatically when the water
has boiled. (Remember, the surface of the kettle gets hot;
take care–only grip the kettle by the handle).
Anti-Scale Mesh Filter
6. After use, unplug the kettle and empty.
Scale is caused by lime and calcium in hard water. The mesh
filter will prevent these suspended particles
from being poured out of the kettle. To
ensure optimum performance of the filter
it should be periodically cleaned. To clean
the filter, rinse it under running water and
brush both side with a soft brush. An old,
clean toothbrush works well.
NOTE: Use water only. If used for foods other than water, the
warranty will be voided.

If Your Kettle Does Not Work
Make these simple checks before calling the toll-free
customer service number:
Know Your Kettle
Cordless Kettle
• Have you switched the power switch button to the “on” (l)
Your cordless kettle has the power supply connected to the
power base, eliminating the need to plug and unplug the cord
from the electrical outlet. However, it is always a good safety
practice to unplug the power base when not in use.
position?
• Has the kettle been accidentally switched on without being
filled with water or allowed to boil dry? Wait 15 minutes
and try again.
• For general operation see “Using Your Electric Kettle.”
• Is the kettle cord firmly plugged in the outlet or, in the case
of the cordless kettle, is it firmly plugged into the outlet and
firmly seated in the base?
• After filling the kettle with water, it should be placed on the
base so that it is correctly engaged.
• After use the kettle may be left on the base but we
recommend you unplug the cord from the outlet.
• If the kettle heats but does not boil, it might need descaling.
If Your Kettle Boils Dry
Cleaning & Descaling
Your Kettle
The heating element is protected by two automatic safety
devices. If your kettle is accidentally switched on without
being filled with water, or is allowed to boil dry, the kettle will
automatically repeat a cycle of switching off, cooling down
and switching back on. You should:
• Unplug the kettle and wait about 15 minutes for the
element to cool down.
1. With kettle unplugged, empty out any remaining water and
rinse. If your model has a mesh filter, remove it before
cleaning.
2. To remove lime deposits, which build up periodically from
all water, use a scale/lime remover following its directions
carefully.
• Refill the kettle, then use as normal and check that the
kettle functions correctly.
3. To avoid scale/lime deposit build up, empty the kettle after
each use.
If Heating Element Discolors
It is normal for stainless steel heating elements to discolor.
This does not affect the performance of the kettle. Do not use
abrasive scouring pads or cleaners as this may damage the
4. Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a damp cloth. Do not
use abrasive scouring pads or powders as they may
